printed textiles - oodlawirra (1)
Oodlawirra was selected to represent The Swedish School of Textiles at Stockholm Furniture Fair as well as in Milan Furniture Fair. Brail and aboriginal dot paintings are both dots containing at message for those who understands, but remains just as patterns for the rest of us. Oodlawirra means tree and mountains in aboriginal. On the digitally printed surface you can see butterflies and angels flying over the landscape, carrying secret messages in brail handprinted with swellpaste. If you know brail you can read them: "Hello, my name is Sigrid and I am your own guardian angel!" -

family tree quilt (1)
Family Tree is a contemporary interpretation of the patchwork quilt which is passed down through the generations. The white middle portion of the quilt leaves room for self expression on the border where I have placed personal textiles from past and present family members. It can also grow with future generations. In this way, relatives can live on through their textiles sewn into the quilt. Grandmother’s hand woven towel. Father’s beloved pair of jeans. Mother’s first dress. A beautiful death is someone or something that is remembered.
