Mikrotopia is a poetic interpretation of a microskope picture of a nettle where structure and pattern have been designed to enhance the nettle yarn.
Mikrotopia is a handknotted carpet where I have experimented with traditional techniques and crafts, like soumak and loop, combining these in a whole new way to get a new interesting structure.
Materials used are ecological nettleyarn from Nepal and wool from New Zealand. Nettle yarn needs no fertilizers or pesticides, thus reducing chemicals in cultivation of the fibres.
